Indianapolis, Indiana – Scattered thunderstorms will impact much of Indiana through Saturday, bringing lightning, heavy downpours, and seasonably warm temperatures to the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, storm chances will continue each day, with highs climbing into the mid-80s to around 90 and overnight lows in the mid-60s to low 70s. The primary concerns are lightning strikes and periods of heavy rainfall, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
Central Indiana—including Marion, Hendricks, and Hamilton counties—should prepare for possible localized flooding on area roads like I-465, U.S. 31, and State Road 67, especially during heavier downpours. Residents are urged to remain alert for changing weather conditions, avoid flooded roadways, and secure outdoor items that could be affected by gusty winds. Power outages are possible during stronger storms.
Storm activity is expected to be most widespread on Friday and Saturday, when numerous thunderstorms could move across the region. Similar patterns last summer caused brief travel delays and scattered power disruptions across Indianapolis and surrounding communities.
Storm chances are likely to continue into the weekend, with additional advisories possible as conditions evolve.
