Indianapolis, Indiana – Strong storms and scattered showers could bring localized flooding across Indiana Monday night, with dry, sunny weather expected to return by Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the final round of storms will move through the state overnight, with some potentially severe cells producing damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated lightning. Flash flooding remains a concern, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Areas under threat include Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, and Muncie, where wet roads and ponding could impact early morning commutes. Scattered storms are expected to taper off before sunrise Tuesday, giving way to drier air and increasing sunshine throughout the day. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s, with temperatures trending into the low 90s by Thursday and Friday.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways and secure outdoor items ahead of any gusty storms tonight. Charge mobile devices in case of brief outages.

The threat of rain diminishes significantly after tonight, with no additional storms expected through Friday.
