Indianapolis, IN – A man suspected of robbing the same bank on three separate occasions is now in police custody.
The arrest unfolded on Monday morning after officers were dispatched to a bank robbery in progress. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers were sent to a bank located in the 4300 block of E 10th Street at approximately 10:08 a.m. While on their way, dispatch informed them that the suspect matched the description of an individual who had allegedly robbed the same location on two previous dates.
According to a statement from IMPD, officers had been previously supplied with information about a possible suspect, Dewayne Moss, by the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and FBI Task Force Officers (TFO) following a robbery at the bank on Friday, June 6. When a second hold-up alarm was triggered at a nearby business on Monday, an officer attempting to locate Moss saw him exiting the building and allegedly attempting to flee. After a brief foot chase, officers successfully apprehended Moss.
Authorities have stated that through the use of surveillance technology and with help from the community, VCU and TFO detectives were able to allegedly link Moss to multiple robberies at the same bank on May 5, and June 6, in addition to the events of Monday. Moss was arrested for robbery and attempted robbery.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final charging decision. All charges are merely accusations, and the suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
