Indianapolis, IN – Police say several drivers were arrested on Halloween night as part of an ongoing effort to reduce reckless and dangerous driving across Indianapolis.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers stopped multiple vehicles traveling over 100 mph on city streets and the interstate. All three drivers were arrested for reckless driving, and one was identified as a habitual traffic violator. Each vehicle was towed from the scene.

In another case, officers observed two cars lining up side by side near East 96th Street and Allisonville Road. A passenger in one of the vehicles reportedly extended his arm out the window before both cars sped off. Officers quickly stopped both vehicles, arresting the drivers for speed contest and citing the passenger for illegal street racing. Both cars were towed.

Police say these enforcement actions will continue citywide. Drivers caught engaging in reckless behavior, street takeovers, or speed contests face arrest and vehicle impoundment.

Anyone with information about illegal driving activity is urged to call 911 or the IMPD non-emergency line at (317) 327-3811.
