Indianapolis, IN – Detectives with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) have arrested 30-year-old Chavieon Gray for his alleged role in a weekend shooting on the city’s east side that left one woman injured, according to IMPD News.

Police said the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in the 2300 block of Lesley Avenue. When East District officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Investigators with IMPD’s Aggravated Assault unit canvassed the area for video evidence and witnesses. The same day, detectives identified Gray as a possible suspect.

On Wednesday, October 22, around 5:30 p.m., detectives located Gray at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Betsy Lane. The IMPD SWAT Team assisted in the arrest after Gray was found hiding inside a utility room. Officers recovered multiple firearms and other evidence from the scene.

Gray was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement, and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, according to police. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine formal charges.

Police emphasize that an arrest is not a conviction, and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
