Indiana wakes up to crisp air and damp pavement, and drivers are already noticing slick patches on shaded roads. Temperatures sit near 20°F in Indianapolis, and any leftover moisture can refreeze quickly during the morning commute. That freeze-thaw cycle raises the risk for brief flash freezing on bridges and overpasses, especially along I-65 and I-70.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, highs climb to around 41°F today under mostly cloudy skies, with southwest winds gusting near 29 mph. A slight chance of rain develops late tonight, mixing with wet snow toward daybreak Wednesday as temperatures dip near 32°F.

Skies clear Wednesday with a high near 47°F, but don’t get too comfortable. Clouds increase again by Wednesday evening. Rain develops after sunset, then mixes with and changes to snow as colder air filters in. New precipitation amounts remain light, generally under a quarter inch, but slick spots could form before sunrise Thursday if temperatures hover near freezing.

Thursday stays mostly cloudy with scattered rain and snow showers and a high near 45°F. Roads may turn slushy at times, especially during heavier bursts. Plan extra travel time Wednesday night into early Thursday.

By Friday, sunshine returns with highs in the low 50s. Saturday pushes toward the mid-50s, offering a preview of early spring. Looking into early next week, temperatures trend above normal, signaling a steady warming pattern across central Indiana.
