Indianapolis, IN – A bicyclist remains in critical condition after allegedly being struck in a hit-and-run crash on the east side of Indianapolis, authorities said today.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers responded to a serious accident involving a bicyclist on the 3600 block of East Washington Street on June 27. Police allege that the bicyclist was hit by a vehicle, which then fled the scene without stopping to provide information or assistance. Emergency medical crews transported the victim to a local hospital, where the individual remains in critical condition.

IMPD officials report that hit-and-run detectives began their investigation at the scene, collecting evidence from the striking vehicle and canvassing for video footage. Based on their findings, detectives identified 53-year-old Steven Frazier as the alleged driver. According to police, a warrant was issued for Frazier’s arrest after reviewing all evidence.

On Wednesday, IMPD officers located Frazier in the 1300 block of North Delaware Street and placed him under arrest for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in catastrophic injury, as well as additional charges including obstruction of justice and criminal mischief.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final determination on charges. Police remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
