Indianapolis, IN – Drivers across central Indiana should prepare for slippery, snow-covered roads Saturday morning through late Sunday, as a Winter Storm Watch is now in effect along and north of the I-70 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, confidence is growing in widespread snowfall totals of at least 4 inches, especially from Lafayette to Muncie and up through Kokomo and Delphi. Areas directly along I-70, including Indianapolis, may see slightly lower totals near 2 to 4 inches, while amounts drop further south.

The most significant update is increased certainty in higher snow amounts near Lafayette, where travel could become dangerous by Saturday afternoon. Blowing snow and reduced visibility may also impact stretches of I-65 and U.S. 31. Snow is expected to begin early Saturday and continue into Saturday night, tapering off by mid-morning Sunday.

Residents should limit non-essential travel, keep devices charged, and monitor local road conditions through INDOT. Snowplow operations are expected across the region, especially in Boone, Clinton, Howard, and Tippecanoe counties.

The next weather briefing is scheduled by 6 a.m. Friday, with possible advisories or warnings issued as confidence grows in exact snowfall locations.
