Indianapolis, IN – Indiana will experience a dramatic temperature swing this weekend as near-record warmth today is followed by a much colder Sunday. Highs this afternoon are expected to reach the low to upper 70s—well above normal for mid-November.

According to the US National Weather Service Indianapolis, today will also be breezy, with winds increasing ahead of an approaching cold front. While most of the state remains dry, there is a slight chance of light rain late this afternoon into tonight as the front moves across central and southern Indiana.

Temperatures will fall quickly behind the front. Tonight’s lows will drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s, a return to more seasonable readings after the unusually warm day.

Sunday will feel noticeably different. Highs will only reach the upper 40s to mid-50s, with skies turning mostly sunny but chilly. Winds will ease compared to Saturday, but the colder air will settle in firmly by Sunday night, when lows are expected to dip into the upper 20s to lower 30s across central Indiana.

The early part of next week will continue the cooler trend with dry weather expected, offering a stable pattern after the weekend’s rapid warm-to-cold transition.

Residents across the state—including Indianapolis, Anderson, Muncie, Bloomington, Columbus, and Lafayette—should prepare for changing conditions, dressing for springlike warmth today and late-fall chill by Sunday.

More updates will be issued as conditions evolve with tonight’s cold front.
