Indianapolis, IN – A pursuit involving Indianapolis police turned deadly Saturday morning, leaving two men dead and two suspects in custody after a reported robbery escalated into gunfire and a high-speed chase across the city.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, East District officers responded just before 9 a.m. Saturday to the 2600 block of E. 10th Street, where they found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. One adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. A female victim in stable condition and another adult male were taken to the hospital, where the second male was later pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect vehicle fled the scene, striking an ambulance and another car near the 7000 block of E. 10th Street. A male passenger reportedly jumped out and was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Beville Avenue. The driver continued fleeing until police used a pursuit intervention technique near W. 16th Street, ending the chase after the vehicle struck several parked cars.

The driver initially refused to comply with commands, but eventually surrendered with the assistance of IMPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officers. No further injuries were reported during the apprehension.

Homicide detectives believe the incident was robbery-related. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency and the Marion County Coroner’s Office responded to process the scene and determine the cause of death. The victims’ names have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

IMPD later arrested 33-year-old Marquis Craig and 27-year-old Zay McDaniels for their alleged involvement. Final charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
