Indianapolis, IN – A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal August shooting that left a 22-year-old victim dead on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), homicide detectives, assisted by the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU), arrested Parris Maul on September 22, 2025. He is accused of involvement in the murder of 22-year-old Larenzo Murray.

Police said the incident occurred on August 19, 2025, just before 10 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of West 81st Street after reports of a person shot. When they arrived, officers found Murray inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Detectives processed the scene, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses. Investigators identified Maul as a suspect, and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant on September 19, 2025.

On September 22, detectives located and arrested Maul in the 3800 block of Cooper Square Court.

IMPD emphasized that an arrest is only an allegation, and Maul is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
