Indianapolis, Indiana – Isolated severe storms are possible this evening and overnight as showers and thunderstorms move across central Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service Indianapolis, increasing southerly winds will raise humidity levels and push temperatures above 60 degrees by late day. Storm coverage is expected to increase from west to east this evening, with the most likely severe window between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Indianapolis and much of central Indiana under a Level 1 out of 5 risk, indicating isolated severe storms are possible. Forecasters say damaging wind gusts are the primary threat, with a few storms capable of producing stronger winds, particularly near and west of Interstate 69 after 7 p.m.

In addition to wind, brief heavy rain is possible tonight, with some areas receiving more than a half-inch of rainfall. Storms are expected to weaken later overnight.

Officials note that while the severe threat is marginal, residents should remain weather-aware during the evening and overnight hours, especially if traveling.

For late-night commuters and early-shift workers, gusty winds and heavy downpours could briefly affect driving conditions.
