Indianapolis, IN – Two suspects were arrested Thursday night after allegedly attempting to break into a garage and confronting a victim while armed, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).
Detectives say 38-year-old Ashley Barbee and 26-year-old Jordan Demaree allegedly approached a home on the 1500 block of East Bradbury Avenue on October 16, 2025, where they reportedly confronted a victim during a burglary attempt.
According to IMPD, officers responding to the call located Barbee and Demaree near the 2800 block of Hervey Street. Police say the confrontation escalated when one suspect pointed a firearm at the victim. The victim managed to disarm the suspect and toss the weapon into a grassy area before officers arrived.
Investigators said one of the suspects allegedly claimed to be an undercover officer and flashed a security badge while attempting to steal the victim’s vehicle. Detectives later determined the badge had been stolen during a previous burglary, and the weapon recovered at the scene was identified as a BB gun.
Barbee and Demaree were arrested on preliminary charges of robbery, impersonating a law enforcement officer, burglary, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, IMPD reported.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and determine final charges. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
