Indianapolis, Ind. – Hot and humid air will dominate central Indiana through midweek, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s and sticky overnight lows in the 70s. Northern counties may see isolated thunderstorms this afternoon before the threat expands statewide late Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, a line of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop Tuesday afternoon, with the heaviest activity expected during the evening commute and into the night. Brief downpours, gusty winds, and lightning are possible, particularly along and north of the I-70 corridor.

Roadways could become slick during heavier bursts of rain, and outdoor events may face delays or cancellations. Residents are advised to keep weather alerts enabled on their phones and avoid driving through flooded intersections.

By Wednesday, a few lingering storms may persist, but milder air will begin pushing into the region Wednesday night, especially north of I-70. Highs will drop into the mid-80s with overnight lows in the 60s, offering some relief from the oppressive humidity. Additional advisories may be issued if storms organize more strongly than expected.
