Indianapolis Fire Displaces 20 Adults, 5 Kids, and Numerous Pets in Apartment Blaze

Indianapolis, IN – A fire at an Indianapolis apartment complex early Monday displaced 13 adults, 5 children, and numerous pets. The fire began just after midnight at 822 Antique Court, inside the Edison at Meridian Hills Apartments.

Firefighters received multiple 911 calls reporting flames and trapped residents. One person jumped to safety, while others evacuated before crews arrived. Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) confirmed the blaze was under control within an hour.

The fire affected 12 apartment units, leaving significant fire, water, and smoke damage. Displaced residents, including 2 dogs, 12 cats, and a turtle, received assistance from IFD Victims Assistance. Management is working with displaced tenants to provide shelter.

Pike Township Fire Department assisted in extinguishing the flames. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to IFD.

Emergency crews praised the quick evacuation efforts, which ensured no injuries occurred. Residents are urged to contact management for updates on housing and resources.
