Indianapolis, IN – Heavy rains and damaging winds are expected to impact Indianapolis starting today, with the potential for flooding through Wednesday.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Indianapolis, showers and scattered thunderstorms will develop mainly later today and continue into Wednesday. The chances for the most intense storms are highest late tonight into Wednesday morning. Meteorologists warn that isolated strong storms could bring localized damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain, increasing the risk of flooding in some areas.

Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions. “Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” the National Weather Service advises, emphasizing the dangers of driving through flooded roadways. With forecasted temperatures ranging from 84 to 88 degrees today and lows between 66 and 70 degrees tonight, weather conditions could rapidly change, leading to hazardous situations.

Wednesday’s forecast shows continued showers and thunderstorms with high temperatures between 79 and 84 degrees. Local authorities are preparing for possible emergency responses and advising the public to secure outdoor objects that could become projectiles in strong winds and to keep drainage areas clear of debris to mitigate flooding risks.
