Indianapolis, Ind. – A cold front pushing through Indiana is expected to spark scattered thunderstorms from this afternoon into Wednesday night, with the potential for heavy downpours, dangerous lightning, and gusty winds. Temperatures will remain summerlike, with highs reaching the upper 80s to low 90s before slightly cooler air moves in midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the primary hazard will be cloud-to-ground lightning, though a few stronger storms could produce gusts capable of downing small branches or causing minor power outages. Localized heavy rainfall may briefly reduce visibility on interstates, including I-65, I-69, and I-70, especially during the evening commute.

The marginal severe weather threat will cover much of central and southern Indiana, including Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Muncie. Outdoor events should be monitored closely, and residents are urged to seek shelter indoors at the first sign of thunder.

Conditions will improve gradually Wednesday night as the front moves east, but scattered showers may linger. Additional updates will be issued if storm intensity or coverage increases.
