Indianapolis, IN – Temperatures across Indiana will remain dangerously low through Thursday morning, with wind chills dropping to -10°F or lower. A wind chill advisory, currently in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday, warns of frostbite risks in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will reach a high of 21°F today, though gusts of up to 30 mph will make it feel much colder. Scattered flurries are possible overnight as temperatures settle around 19°F. Residents are urged to dress in layers, wear hats and gloves, and limit time outdoors during these conditions.

Looking ahead, Thursday will bring slightly warmer conditions, with highs near 28°F under partly cloudy skies. A 20% chance of light snow remains for the morning hours, but no significant accumulation is expected. Friday will offer bright sunshine and calmer winds, though the high temperature will only reach 23°F.

By the weekend, a warming trend is anticipated. Saturday’s high will climb to 37°F, with gusty southwest winds and mostly cloudy skies. Sunday will be even milder, with a high near 40°F, offering some relief from the bitter cold earlier in the week.

Drivers on I-65 and other major roadways should remain cautious of icy patches through Friday. Officials also recommend checking on elderly neighbors and ensuring pets remain indoors during this severe cold spell.
