Fort Wayne, IN – Bitter cold will linger for one more night before a warming trend brings relief to northern Indiana this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain frigid Thursday night, with lows around 12°F and wind chills dipping below zero. However, by Friday, sunshine will return, and temperatures will climb to 28°F. A steady warming trend will continue through the weekend, with highs reaching 37°F on Sunday and the mid-40s by Monday.

Though conditions will improve, lingering snow showers Thursday night may create slick spots on roads. Drivers, especially those traveling along U.S. 30, should remain cautious. By Saturday, mostly sunny skies and milder temperatures will provide a welcome break from the recent Arctic air.

Looking ahead, a chance of rain returns Monday afternoon as a new weather system moves in. Until then, northern Indiana residents can expect improving conditions, with above-freezing temperatures making outdoor activities more comfortable.
