Fort Wayne, Indiana – Sweltering heat returns to northeast Indiana Monday, with the National Weather Service warning of a heat index soaring to 106° by late afternoon. Fort Wayne residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and avoid peak heat between 2 and 5 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. EDT Monday for Allen County and surrounding areas. While severe storms aren’t expected, scattered showers and thunderstorms could bring localized downpours in the evening hours, especially along U.S. 30 and I-69 corridors.
Monday’s high will reach 91°F under mostly sunny skies, with light winds offering little relief. Heat-sensitive groups, including children and the elderly, should seek air-conditioned shelter. Utilities could see increased demand as air conditioners run harder during peak hours.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will be even hotter with a projected high of 92°F and only a slight afternoon storm chance. Relief begins midweek, with temps dropping slightly and more consistent storm activity returning.
