Fort Wayne, Ind. – Memorial Day in Indiana brings calm, comfortable conditions, with temperatures climbing to the low 70s across inland areas and hovering closer to 60 degrees along Lake Michigan’s shoreline.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, skies will turn increasingly cloudy throughout the day, with cooler temperatures lingering near lakeside communities. Highs will range from 60 to 71 degrees, offering mild weather for outdoor ceremonies and barbecues. Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid-50s under mostly cloudy skies.
South Bend and Valparaiso may feel the lakeside chill more acutely, while Fort Wayne, Elkhart, and Warsaw should stay warmer through late afternoon. Light winds are expected, but no severe weather or rain is in the forecast, making it a safe day for travel and remembrance events.
Those planning to visit cemeteries or attend parades are encouraged to bring a light jacket, especially near the lakefront, where breezes will keep the air cooler.
This tranquil stretch won’t last long—clouds will thicken overnight and bring a chance of showers into Tuesday. Another update from the National Weather Service is expected by early morning.
