Fort Wayne, IN – The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has extended a Freeze Warning for much of northern Indiana, effective from midnight until 9 a.m. Friday.
The warning covers Pulaski, Fulton, White, Cass, Miami, Wabash, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Grant, Blackford, and Jay counties, where temperatures could fall to around 30 degrees overnight.
According to forecasters, widespread frost and sub-freezing temperatures are likely to kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The warning also signals an end to the growing season across northern Indiana.
Residents are urged to cover tender plants, disconnect hoses, and protect outdoor water systems ahead of the freeze. Meteorologists note that frost will be most severe in low-lying and rural areas, especially before sunrise.
Friday’s morning temperatures are expected to rebound into the 40s by midday, but colder air could linger through the weekend.
