FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A faint layer of frost glistens on car rooftops this morning, but warmer air is on the way. Friday brings sunshine, a mild breeze, and a taste of late fall calm before another shift toward cooler, wetter weather this weekend. The calm won’t last long — changes begin by Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, Friday will stay mostly sunny with highs near 59°F and light south winds. It’s a good day to run errands, prep for weekend plans, or finish any outdoor projects before rain chances increase. By Friday night, clouds build steadily as moisture streams in from the southwest ahead of a weak cold front.

Saturday looks noticeably warmer, with highs near 66°F — about 10 to 12 degrees above normal for mid-November. However, a band of light showers may develop during the afternoon and persist into Saturday night, especially along and south of the Fort Wayne metro area. Gusts could reach 15 mph in open areas, giving the day a breezy feel before colder air sweeps in late.

Sunday will mark the return to seasonable November weather. Temperatures drop back into the upper 40s with crisp air and sunshine returning by afternoon. Looking ahead, cooler highs in the 40s and lows near freezing next week may signal an early “winter tease” — models hint at colder air deepening toward Thanksgiving.
