INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A brief spell of cooler, crisp fall air will give way to a warming trend across Central Indiana heading into the weekend, with highs climbing back into the mid-70s by Sunday and Monday. After a stretch of sunny, dry days, only a limited chance of light showers could interrupt Friday night into early Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, most of the region will remain dry through the rest of the workweek, with Thursday and Friday featuring clear skies and seasonable highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Overnight lows will dip into the 30s and low 40s, making for chilly mornings, especially in rural counties north of I-70.
A weak front could bring spotty showers late Friday night, mainly west of Bloomington and along I-74 toward Crawfordsville. The system should move out quickly, setting up a mild, mostly sunny weekend. By Sunday, temperatures are expected to rebound into the low to mid-70s—well above early-October averages.
The NWS says this mild stretch will continue into early next week, ideal for outdoor events, harvest work, and travel across the state. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the calm weather to prep lawns and gardens for colder conditions later in October.
