Lafayette, Ind. – A widespread Frost Advisory will take effect from 5 to 9 a.m. EDT Thursday, covering much of central Indiana, where temperatures could fall to near 35 degrees and lead to patchy frost formation, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

The advisory includes Carroll, Warren, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Howard, Fountain, Tipton, Madison, Delaware, and Randolph counties, affecting cities such as Lafayette, Kokomo, Anderson, and Muncie. Clear skies and light winds will allow overnight cooling to produce early morning frost on exposed surfaces.

According to forecasters, sensitive outdoor plants could be damaged or killed if left uncovered overnight. Homeowners and gardeners should cover tender vegetation and disconnect outdoor hoses. The Indiana Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow extra time to clear frost from windshields before the morning commute.

Thursday’s frost risk will mark one of the coldest mornings so far this fall. By late morning, sunshine will return with temperatures rebounding into the upper 50s and lower 60s. A steady warming trend is expected into the weekend as a milder air mass moves in from the west.

Residents should continue monitoring local updates as additional frost advisories may be issued for rural areas through the end of the week.
