Fort Wayne, IN – The US National Weather Service in Northern Indiana says the region will see windy and mild conditions Wednesday, followed by a sharp cooldown and the return of wet and possibly wintry weather by late weekend.
Highs Wednesday will reach the upper 50s to mid-60s, with wind gusts up to 30 mph before temperatures begin to fall in the afternoon. Thursday will be cooler, with highs in the low to mid-50s and a chance of light rain late in the day.
Rain is likely Friday, continuing into early Saturday as temperatures drop significantly. By Saturday night into Sunday, a mix of rain and snow may develop, and lake-effect snow showers could appear by late Sunday into Monday, especially in northern areas near Lake Michigan.
Forecasters note confidence remains low on exact snowfall amounts but emphasize that much colder air is expected early next week, with highs struggling to reach the 40s.
