Lima, OH –Heavy rain is forecast to drench parts of northern Indiana and western Ohio through Sunday, with some areas expecting more than 2 inches of rainfall.
According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, showers will begin Friday afternoon and persist through early Sunday morning, especially south of a line from Marion, Indiana to Lima, Ohio. Lima could see nearly 2 inches of total accumulation, with the heaviest rainfall projected between Friday night and Saturday evening.
The region’s forecast indicates a 90% chance of rain for most of the weekend in cities including Fort Wayne, Logansport, and Defiance. Portland, Indiana is projected to see the highest rainfall total at 2.22 inches by 8 a.m. Sunday. Meanwhile, rainfall in southern Michigan cities like Benton Harbor and Hillsdale will remain closer to half an inch.
Drivers should prepare for possible standing water on roadways, especially in low-lying areas. Residents are advised to check local alerts and avoid flooded roads. With temperatures expected to dip into the 40s early next week, rain could mix with snow in some areas.
