Adams County, IN – Two EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed in eastern Adams County after severe storms swept through the area on the evening of April 2, 2025. The tornadoes, which occurred simultaneously and traveled in parallel, caused significant damage but no fatalities or injuries.
According to the National Weather Service, one of the tornadoes had winds reaching up to 105 mph and traveled 2.33 miles. It impacted areas near Monroe, IN, destroying well-built pole barns and causing roof damage to local Amish properties. The second tornado, with estimated peak winds of 95 mph, moved along a similar path, damaging pole barns and uprooting structures near Salem, IN.
These are two of the five tornadoes confirmed from the April 2 storm system. Additional surveys are underway in surrounding areas, including Steuben County. Officials are urging residents to stay alert for potential future weather events as more assessments are completed.
Both tornadoes dissipated before reaching the Mercer County line, avoiding further destruction. Local authorities are continuing to evaluate the damage, and residents in affected areas are advised to monitor weather updates.
