Indiana – Wind pushes against downtown buildings this morning in Indianapolis while gray clouds stretch across central Indiana. The air feels unusually warm for March, but conditions will change fast as a powerful system approaches.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, a Wind Advisory begins at 11 a.m. and continues through early Monday morning across central Indiana. South winds will strengthen to 25–35 mph with gusts between 45 and 55 mph.
Those gusts could toss around loose objects and snap tree limbs across Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, and surrounding counties. A few isolated power outages may develop if stronger gusts arrive this afternoon.
Drivers traveling along Interstate 65, Interstate 70, and Interstate 465 should prepare for strong crosswinds, especially on open stretches and elevated ramps around the Indianapolis metro.
Meteorologists are also tracking a line of thunderstorms expected late tonight, likely arriving between late evening and early morning. Some storms may produce damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes as the system sweeps east across Indiana.
Rain will taper Monday morning, but colder air will rush in behind the cold front. Temperatures will fall quickly during the day Monday, and scattered snow showers may develop by afternoon.
That rapid drop in temperatures could create flash-freezing on untreated roads, particularly bridges and overpasses where pavement cools faster.
After the brief return of winter, calmer conditions arrive Tuesday with sunshine and cooler temperatures. A warming trend then builds midweek, pushing highs back into the low 60s by Thursday, bringing early hints of spring again.
Secure outdoor items today and stay weather-aware tonight as winds and storms move through central Indiana.
