Indianapolis, Indiana – Thunderstorms could dampen Friday afternoon plans across central Indiana as isolated storms and patchy fog move in after 11 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, Friday will start mostly cloudy with a slight chance of morning showers. The main round of thunderstorms and fog is expected to develop midday into the afternoon, especially along I-65 and across Marion, Monroe, and Tippecanoe counties. Though severe weather is unlikely, some storms may produce gusty winds and brief heavy downpours.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use headlights during foggy stretches, particularly near Bloomington and Crawfordsville. Visibility may drop quickly in isolated areas. The risk for stronger storms diminishes Friday night, but rain chances will linger.
Heading into the weekend, the weather remains unsettled. Saturday brings a 60% chance of showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon, with highs near 79°F. Sunday clears slightly with only a 20% rain chance and highs in the upper 70s, offering a better window for outdoor plans.
By Monday, another system moves in with scattered showers expected during the day and into Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday trend drier, with lower rain chances and highs in the mid to upper 70s.
⚠️ Warnings remain in place for Friday. Spotters are encouraged to stay alert. More updates expected by Friday morning.
