Indianapolis, IN – Temperatures are climbing into the upper 70s today, setting the stage for near-record warmth and a surge into the 80s by Sunday across central Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, highs will reach around 78 degrees Friday with southwest winds between 5 and 15 mph. Saturday remains warm with highs near 71 degrees, before stronger winds Sunday push temperatures into the low 80s, approaching a long-standing record of 82 degrees.

Cities including Indianapolis, Carmel, Bloomington, and Muncie will experience the warmest conditions Sunday afternoon, with breezy conditions enhancing the early spring heat. Dry weather will dominate through most of the weekend, allowing for widespread outdoor activity.

By late Sunday into the evening hours, a system moves in bringing scattered showers and possible thunderstorms. Roads such as I-65 and I-70 could become slick if storms develop during peak travel times.

The warm pattern breaks early next week, with temperatures trending back toward seasonal levels. Additional updates are expected if storm timing or intensity changes Sunday night.
