Indianapolis, IN – Hoosiers can expect unseasonably warm weather across much of Indiana heading into the weekend, with high temperatures climbing into the 80s each day, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Forecasters said Thursday that the stretch of sunny and warm conditions will last through Sunday, with temperatures running 15 to 20 degrees above early October averages. Normal highs for this time of year are typically in the upper 60s.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will range from 82–86 degrees today, 84–87 degrees Friday, and similar readings on Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows will remain mild, staying in the mid-50s to lower 60s across central Indiana.

Meteorologists noted that this type of warmth is unusual for early fall but comes without storm activity. Residents can expect mostly clear skies and light winds, making for favorable conditions for outdoor events, fall festivals, and evening activities.

The NWS also advised residents to stay aware of changing weather patterns, as a shift to cooler, more seasonable conditions is possible early next week.
