Fort Wayne, Ind. – Scattered storms could sweep across northeast Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southern Lower Michigan Monday afternoon, bringing the risk of damaging wind gusts and heavy rain between 2 and 10 p.m. EDT.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, confidence in severe storm development remains low, but any thunderstorms that form may produce wind gusts reaching 55 mph. The Level 1 marginal risk zone includes Fort Wayne, South Bend, Toledo, and surrounding areas.

Strong winds may knock down tree limbs or temporarily disrupt power, especially in rural or poorly sheltered areas. Drivers on U.S. Route 30, I-69, and I-75 should prepare for sudden downpours and slick conditions during the evening commute. While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated stronger storms could briefly intensify.

Residents are urged to stay weather aware, have multiple alert methods active, and ensure outdoor items are secured. Now is also a good time to double-check that your safe place is accessible in case warnings are issued.

Storm chances taper off late Monday night, but more updates may follow if conditions shift.
