Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana drivers should prepare for a slick and slow commute early Monday morning as a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect from 3 a.m. through 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.
Forecasters expect steady snow with bursts of heavier bands spreading south overnight into Monday morning. Visibility may drop below one mile at times, with snowfall rates near half an inch per hour during peak periods.
According to the NWS, the heaviest snowfall is expected between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m., just as many head to work. Total accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible, particularly in the Wabash Valley north of Terre Haute.
Travelers should expect reduced visibility, slick roads, and potential black ice during the morning rush. Conditions are expected to improve by mid- to late morning, with snow tapering off by around 9–10 a.m.
Drivers are urged to allow extra time, reduce speed, and keep headlights on if traveling before 9 a.m.
