Fort Wayne, Ind. – Northern Indiana gets a brief midweek break, but Friday’s storms could bring localized flooding, with a chance for severe thunderstorms early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected Friday, especially in the afternoon and evening. No severe weather is anticipated Friday, but isolated heavy rainfall may cause minor flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Friday’s rain will impact cities including Fort Wayne, South Bend, and La Porte, with precipitation chances reaching 90%. Wind gusts may top 20 mph, and rainfall totals could exceed a quarter inch. Roads like US-30 and I-69 may see slick spots during peak travel times.

Looking ahead, the NWS warns that organized severe thunderstorms could develop Tuesday afternoon, bringing the potential for damaging winds and hail. Residents are urged to stay weather-aware as more updates are expected over the weekend.

Spotter activation is not expected today, but that may change next week.
