Indianapolis, IN – A mix of clouds and isolated showers is expected across Indiana today, with southeastern areas possibly seeing rumbles of thunder by Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, temperatures across central Indiana will reach highs between 67°F and 74°F today, before a cold front brings cooler air Tuesday. Wind gusts up to 40 mph are likely Tuesday afternoon, particularly in open and elevated areas, making travel more difficult for high-profile vehicles.

Rain chances today are isolated but could produce brief thunderstorms near the Ohio border. Tuesday will be dry but noticeably cooler, with highs between 51°F and 58°F. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s to mid-40s through midweek. Rain chances increase again late Thursday into Friday, when widespread showers and storms are expected statewide.

Residents in southeast Indiana, including areas like Madison and Lawrenceburg, should remain alert for quick-developing weather conditions this evening. Light jackets are advised Tuesday and Wednesday, especially for early morning commuters.

Rain gear will be necessary again by late Thursday. NWS encourages Hoosiers to secure loose outdoor items ahead of Tuesday’s wind gusts and monitor updates for potential end-of-week thunderstorm developments.
