Fort Wayne, Ind. – Drivers along Interstate 69 west of Fort Wayne should prepare for isolated thunderstorms late Saturday before calm, clear weather takes over by Sunday. The brief risk comes as temperatures hold near seasonal highs and skies gradually clear into next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a few scattered thunderstorms could form between 7 and 8 p.m. Saturday, mainly west of I-69. Forecasters say the chance of severe weather remains low, but reduced visibility and slick road conditions are possible. Travelers should slow down on wet roads and avoid unnecessary evening trips during storm development.

Sunday brings a shift to drier and calmer conditions, with highs near 87 under mostly sunny skies. Winds will stay light, offering an early taste of fall warmth. By Monday and Tuesday, the region heats up again with highs near 88 to 89 degrees, paired with abundant sunshine. Nights stay mild, holding near 59 degrees.

The stretch of stable weather should last through midweek. However, forecasters note a 20 percent chance of showers returning by Thursday night into Friday morning, especially in areas south of Allen County.

Residents can expect a quiet stretch after tonight’s brief storm window. The next update from the National Weather Service will refine Thursday’s rain potential as fall weather patterns continue to shift.
