Fort Wayne drivers faced a dangerous start Wednesday as dense fog reduced visibility across Allen and Adams counties, dropping to a quarter-mile along stretches of I-69. Motorists were urged to slow down, keep headlights on, and leave extra distance during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, the dense fog advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Conditions should improve by late morning as sunshine takes over, pushing temperatures into the mid-80s. This pattern of warm afternoons and cool nights will persist through Thursday, keeping the region locked in a late-summer feel.

Today’s high will reach near 86 in Fort Wayne before falling into the upper 50s tonight under mostly clear skies. Thursday and Friday will bring similar warmth, with highs near 88 Thursday and 86 Friday. Light winds will keep conditions calm, offering little relief from the warm stretch.

While the end of the workweek stays dry, a shift comes over the weekend. Clouds build Saturday, and by Sunday, scattered thunderstorms could return, bringing the first hint of unsettled fall weather. Rain chances linger into early next week, raising the possibility of travel disruptions and slick roads.

Residents should enjoy the sunshine through Friday but plan for changing conditions starting late this weekend.
