South Bend, IN – A major winter storm is on the way for Northern Indiana, where forecasters say snowfall rates could reach up to 2 inches per hour Sunday night into Monday morning. The US National Weather Service Northern Indiana has issued a Winter Storm Watch from 4 p.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday (Nov. 10, 2025, EST).

Rain will move in Saturday evening before changing to heavy snow overnight Sunday, bringing the first significant accumulation of the season. Total snowfall of 6–12 inches is likely across the region, with locally higher amounts possible.

The heaviest snow bands are expected late Sunday night through early Monday, when intense bursts of snow may quickly cover roads and reduce visibility. Forecasters warn that snowfall rates could hit 1–2 inches per hour, creating dangerous travel conditions.

The watch includes Starke, Marshall, La Porte, and St. Joseph Counties in Indiana, and Berrien County, Michigan. Temperatures will drop into the 30s overnight, turning rain to all snow, with Monday’s AM and PM commutes likely to be slick and slow.

According to the Weather Service, motorists should plan for snow-covered roads, limited visibility, and possible travel delays. Drivers are urged to allow extra time, carry emergency gear, and check for updates at weather.gov/iwx.

This system marks the first major winter storm of the season for the region, arriving just as colder air settles in for the week ahead.
