Indianapolis, Indiana – 34°F morning lows are creating patchy frost and slowing early travel through the Sunday commute, especially on bridges and untreated roads.
Cool and dry air remains in place across central Indiana today, with highs reaching only 46°F to 52°F under mostly sunny skies. Early morning temperatures in the mid-30s are allowing frost to form in rural and low-lying areas, particularly around Indianapolis, Lafayette, Bloomington, and Muncie.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, dry conditions will continue through at least Monday as a gradual warming trend takes hold. Highs will climb into the low to mid-60s Sunday, followed by the low to mid-70s Monday, marking a sharp transition toward springlike warmth.
Travel impacts will be limited after sunrise, but early drivers along I-65, I-70, and I-69 should remain alert for isolated slick spots where frost develops on elevated surfaces.
Attention turns to Tuesday afternoon and night, when showers and thunderstorms are expected to return to the region. Some storms could become strong, bringing heavier rain, gusty winds, and reduced visibility during peak travel hours.
Frost risks will diminish after Sunday morning as temperatures continue to rise, but additional weather alerts are likely as storm chances increase heading into midweek.
