Fort Wayne, Indiana – Light rain during the early morning hours is already fading, setting up a quick transition to sunshine and a significant warm-up that will peak just before a late weekend cooldown.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, only a 20 percent chance of rain lingers through the morning commute before skies begin to clear. High temperatures today will climb into the low to mid-60s across much of the region, including Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Elkhart.
The bigger story develops heading into the weekend, as temperatures surge well above average. Cities along the I-69 and I-80/90 corridors are expected to reach the upper 60s Friday and push into the low to mid-70s by Saturday and Sunday. Fort Wayne could hit near 71 degrees Sunday afternoon, while areas like Warsaw and Marion may reach the mid-70s.
This stretch of mild weather will support increased travel and outdoor activity, but drivers should remain alert early today for damp roads during the morning commute.
A cold front arrives late Sunday, bringing a drop in temperatures into Monday along with the potential for additional rain. More updates are expected as the timing of that system becomes clearer.
