Indianapolis, IN – Rain will return to southwest Indiana late today before expanding into widespread rainfall Friday and Friday night, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. The heaviest rain is expected late Friday morning into the afternoon, potentially slowing travel across major corridors including I-70, I-65, and I-69.

Forecast probabilities show most central Indiana locations have a strong likelihood of receiving 0.25–0.75 inches of rain, with the highest probabilities centered over southern counties. Indianapolis shows a 71% chance of at least 0.25″, and a 33% chance of 0.75″. Bloomington and Terre Haute both show elevated odds for moderate rainfall amounts, while southern cities like Vincennes have the highest likelihood of approaching one inch.

Rain may linger into Friday night before gradually tapering. No severe weather is expected, but periods of steady rain could lead to reduced visibility and ponding in poorly drained areas.
