Rensselaer, IN – Drivers in Jasper County will face a two-week detour beginning Monday, September 15, as State Road 14 shuts down between County Road 230 East and County Road 375 East.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the closure is necessary for a bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance project at Ryan Ditch. The work is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
The official detour will redirect motorists onto U.S. 231, State Road 114, and U.S. 421. INDOT advises drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs to ensure safety. Local access will remain available to residents and businesses in the area, but through traffic will not be permitted during the project.
Preventative bridge maintenance projects like this one are designed to extend the life of roadway structures and improve safety for the traveling public. INDOT said the improvements are part of ongoing statewide efforts to modernize infrastructure and reduce long-term repair costs.
Motorists are encouraged to check INDOTโs social media channels and traffic apps for real-time updates throughout the closure.
