Hammond, IN – Drivers in Lake County should prepare for an overnight ramp closure impacting traffic near Hammond, Munster, and Highland.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Northwest District announced that the ramp from eastbound I-94 to northbound State Road 152/Indianapolis Boulevard (U.S. 41) will close for one night from approximately 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on or after Monday, May 19.
According to INDOT, the closure is weather dependent. Crews are waiting for favorable conditions to proceed with scheduled terminal joint repairs on the ramp bridge over U.S. 41/Indianapolis Boulevard. All work is expected to be completed in one evening if weather permits. INDOT emphasized that the schedule is subject to change based on forecasted conditions.
The short-term closure affects a key connector in the area, with potential traffic impacts for motorists heading toward northbound U.S. 41 from I-94. The closure will occur near the junction where I-94 intersects with Indianapolis Boulevard, located east of Calumet Avenue and west of Kennedy Avenue.
Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes during the work window to avoid delays and congestion. INDOT has not announced an official detour, but local roads may be used to navigate around the closure depending on travel direction.
Motorists can stay updated through official INDOT communication channels for any changes or weather-related adjustments to the timeline.
