Crawfordsville, IN — Drivers in Crawfordsville should prepare for lane closures and traffic pattern changes on U.S. 231 beginning Monday, May 5, as major construction work gets underway.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) West Central division, crews will begin structure and resurfacing work starting Monday. The project will cause lane closures and traffic shifts along U.S. 231, particularly near the intersection with Market Street and across the Sugar Creek area.

Work is expected to continue through October, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the area and stay alert for construction crews and shifting traffic patterns. INDOT recommends using alternative routes when possible to minimize delays.

The project aims to improve road safety and extend the life of the highway, which serves as a critical north-south artery for Crawfordsville and surrounding communities. Updates and additional project details can be found by visiting the INDOT website or following their social media channels.

Officials urge drivers to slow down and exercise caution in work zones to ensure the safety of both workers and travelers.
