Clark County, Indiana – A woman from Indianapolis was killed in a two-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 65 northbound Monday evening near the Sellersburg exit, prompting a full closure of the highway for several hours.

According to Indiana State Police – Sellersburg, the crash happened just before 5:30 p.m. near mile marker 10.2. Troopers and emergency crews responded to the scene where a gray 2018 Ford F-150 pickup collided with a blue 2019 Chevrolet Malibu during a lane change maneuver. The incident occurred in the northbound center lane as the pickup attempted to merge left, striking the Malibu and sending both vehicles into the median between the northbound and southbound lanes.

Officials say the Ford F-150 rolled over and came to rest in the southbound fast lane, while the Malibu stopped on the center guardrail. The passenger in the F-150, identified as 70-year-old Gloria Jean Jones of Indianapolis, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Malibu was uninjured and released at the scene. The F-150 driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Sellersburg Police, and Tri-Township Fire and Rescue assisted ISP with the response. The Sellersburg Post crash reconstruction team led the investigation.

All lanes of I-65 remained closed for approximately three hours, reopening around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
