The incident occurred in the northbound center lane as the pickup attempted to merge left, striking the Malibu and sending both vehicles into the median between the northbound and southbound lanes.
Officials say the Ford F-150 rolled over and came to rest in the southbound fast lane, while the Malibu stopped on the center guardrail. The passenger in the F-150, identified as 70-year-old Gloria Jean Jones of Indianapolis, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the Malibu was uninjured and released at the scene. The F-150 driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
