White County, IN – A fatal crash on Interstate 65 southbound early Friday morning left one person dead and two others hospitalized, according to the Indiana State Police–Lafayette District.

Troopers responded just after 4 a.m. on November 7, 2025, to the scene near the 197-mile marker. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane while a 2020 Hino box truck was in the left. For reasons still under investigation, the Hino reportedly moved into the right lane and struck the trailer of the Freightliner. Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway.

The passenger in the Hino was pronounced dead at the scene by the White County Coroner’s Office. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The drivers of both vehicles—identified as Richard Amadi, 64, of Arlington, Texas, and Ehab Hamza, 43, of Palos Hills, Illinois—were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Wolcott Fire and EMS, the White County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team.

The crash remains under active investigation, and no further details have been released.
