Indianapolis, Ind. – A tornado watch remains in effect until 11 p.m. Friday for much of central and southern Indiana, with nearly three dozen counties—including Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Muncie—at risk for severe storms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, Tornado Watch 265 covers 33 counties across central, east central, and southwest Indiana. The watch includes major population centers such as Marion, Monroe, and Delaware counties, and cities including Terre Haute, Columbus, and Kokomo.
Residents across the affected region should be prepared to take shelter quickly if warnings are issued. Outdoor plans should be reconsidered, and those traveling on I-70, I-65, or I-69 should monitor road conditions closely. Power outages, falling trees, and localized flooding are possible with these storms.
Evening events in areas such as Noblesville, Shelbyville, and Greenwood may face disruptions. Emergency management officials advise residents to charge phones, keep weather alerts enabled, and review shelter locations now—before a tornado warning is issued.
This is Indiana’s most widespread tornado watch so far this spring. Additional warnings or an extension of the current watch are possible. Stay tuned to local alerts as the situation evolves through tonight.
