Indianapolis, Ind. – A tornado watch remains in effect for 39 Indiana counties—including Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Muncie—until 11 p.m. Friday as unstable conditions continue to fuel the risk of severe storms across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, Tornado Watch 265 covers much of central, south-central, and western Indiana. Strong thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail are expected through the evening hours. Counties included in the alert span from Marion and Hamilton in the metro area to rural regions like Sullivan, Tippecanoe, and Randolph.

Communities such as Terre Haute, Lafayette, and Greenwood could see sudden storm development. Residents are urged to remain alert, monitor local news or NOAA Weather Radio, and have shelter plans ready. Avoid travel if possible after dark, and make sure mobile phones are charged in case of power outages.

This system follows a week of unsettled weather across the Midwest and may prompt additional warnings into the night. Tornado Watch 265 remains active until 11 p.m., and further advisories may be issued depending on storm development.
