Indiana Shooting: Man Arrested After Firing at Vehicle on I-65 in White County

White County, IN – A man was arrested late Sunday after allegedly firing a gun at another vehicle while driving southbound on Interstate 65, according to Indiana State Police.

Troopers responded to a 911 call just before 10 p.m. on March 17, reporting that a vehicle had been shot at near the 193-mile marker. The caller provided a description of the suspect vehicle, leading authorities to locate a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox traveling southbound on I-65.

According to police, troopers conducted a traffic stop and removed all occupants safely. Detectives from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Bureau later found a firearm inside the Chevrolet, which was determined to be stolen. Investigators allege that the driver, identified as George Collins, 43, of Indianapolis, fired at least one shot at the victim’s vehicle. Authorities noted a bullet hole in the windshield.

Collins was taken into custody and transported to the White County Jail. He faces preliminary charges including criminal recklessness with a firearm, possession of stolen property, and pointing a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing, and the case will be reviewed by the White County Prosecutor’s Office.
